The aims of this project are to examine the role of creative work within urban economic development and everyday life. Director Joanna Spitzner will work as a contracted web developer in order to fund the labor of two Syracuse artists. All people’s work—that of Spitzner and of the artists&#8211;will be documented. Placing this in the context of the city, interviews will be conducted with those involved in cultural and economic development. Spitzner also will conduct as a critical reading of the book The Rise of the Creative Class, by Richard Florida. This material will be compiled into a video, pamphlet, and online every week during the exhibition Other Options (June 19th-August 21st, 2008 at the Redhouse Arts Center). A culminating work may take other forms.</p>
